Madeline L'Engle and A Wrinkle in Time

A
Wrinkle in Time

Madeline L'Engle is the author of more than forty books for readers of all ages. She lives in New York City and attended Smith College.

A Wrinkle in Time is the story of Meg Murray, who wants her father to come home so everything is okay again, and her little brother, Charles Wallace, who always knows what she's thinking. They go on adventures to other planets, meeting all sorts of creatures and travelling through tesseracts (wrinkles in time), and battle the Dark Thing that has engulfed some planets and threatens Earth.

Cat tried to read this book when she was about 8 and couldn't stand it. Everyone else she knew loved it, though, so when 'thene suggested she read it for this project, she didn't complain (too much). And it turned out she loved it just as much as anybody else and thoroughly appreciates 'thene's perseverence in getting her to read it! Its a great book. Go read it.

Patricia C. Wrede and Dealing With Dragons

Dealing with
Dragons

Patricia C. Wrede has written many wonderful works, including The Enchanted Forest Chronicles.

In Dealing with Dragons, Princess Cimorene is bored with being a princess. So she runs away from home and ends up becoming a dragon's princess. This book is full of dragons, princesses, wizards, a witch named Morwen, and even a jinn.

Athene thinks that this series is one of the best fantasy series out there! She loves the strong female characters, especially Princess Cimorene, and the exciting world of the Enchanted Forest.
